supply lists for online courses

 

You may want to take a look at the videos before purchasing the supplies. You do NOT have to buy expensive materials to begin with! First try out some basics and then add to your supplies as you go on.

Paper:
- Several pieces of regular drawing or copy paper --watercolor paper (for elements course)
- Deli paper for wrapping sandwiches (found at Smart n Final or Grocery stores)

Substrate options: (Sturdy surface to Glue onto)
You will come up with your favorite substrate to fit your budget. Below are several options, but you can try out any sturdy surface that will take mixed media to begin with 3 pieces at least 11”x14” any of the below options:
- illustration board
- mixed media paper/boards
- acrylic paper
- wood panels
-heavy watercolor paper

Acrylic Paints
- Student grade is fine: Blick; liquitex; Golden (whatever fits your budget)
- Basic colors:  2 blues; 2 yellows; 2 reds (versions of the colors that you like); white; black. PLEASE NOTE: for ELEMENTS COURSE you will need 3 primaries: cadmium red medium; cadmium yellow light/medium; ultramarine or primary blue.

Acrylic Matte Medium
Small jar thick matte medium. I like Utrecht. Many other brands are too fluid, but you can try them out.

Brushes:
2” cheap paint brush (chip brush or regular paintbrush from a paint store)
-synthetic brushes for acrylic various sizes (pointed, round, flat)

Miscellaneous
- 1 piece 220 grit or finer sandpaper (for making papers course only) -various markmaking tools: markers, charcoal, pencil, graphite,stick from the garden(for elements course only) -black india ink (for elements course)
- any stencils that you like: I like stencilgirlproducts.com
- magazines with glossy pages
- old credit card
- rubber brayer (optional)
- palette paper (I use freezer paper from grocery stores)
- water container
- rags/paper towels/wipes
- old book with writing that you don’t mind tearing up (dictionaries are good!)
