Why choose mixed media & collage for my fearless creating art workshops?
Take the fear out of the blank canvas problem!
In my fear-less creating mixed media art workshops in The Art Process Studio, I have learnt how to encourage artists at any level to face a blank canvas without completely melting down and tightening up. It is all about layering and avoiding seeing each layer as a final product.
Intuitive collage as a base is always a great start, even if its completely covered up by the next layer/s of paint. That can create a rich surface to work over, while allowing you to "excavate" images/ideas beneath the surface. The more layers we build, the richer and more complex the piece becomes....just like our lives! Check out the upcoming art workshops and retreat.

“Creativity is defined as the tendency to generate or recognize ideas, alternatives, or possibilities that may be useful in solving problems, communicating with others, and entertaining ourselves and others.”
In order to be creative, you need to be able to view things in new ways or from a different perspective. You need to be able to generate new possibilities or unique alternatives.

Words (either written or thought) are the starting point for many creative ideas. What if our writing was somehow incorporated into our paintings? Jean-Michel Basquiat was a perfect example of the canvas becoming a big notebook. His poetic thoughts drawn from his experiences on the streets of New York eventually made their way into his paintings.
